Ever since I’ve had an interest in photography I’ve always been hooked on images with reflections. I love using light and water to create symmetry in my shots. I think reflection can be interpreted in many ways. Whether it be a direct reflection of an image or subject or the emotion within a portrait.
The above shot is of a Lake in Bradford. I used an ND filter on a long exposure to really smooth out the water and highlight the reflection.
The above shot was taken of Harold. An 82 year old joiner from Bradford. I really wanted to use the reflection in the mirror to add mood and interest to the shot. I focused on the mirror and made sure the rest of the subject was out of focus. This gave the image some depth.
The above shot was taken in Hebden Bridge in Calderdale. What caught my eye in this scene was the mill and the reflection in the water. There was a lot of building work going on in the background of this scene so I tried to frame the shot to hide this. I did that using the tree branches.
